Voigtlander 15mm f4.5 wide angle lens
I bought this lens for wide angle shots for weddings but it is also great for landscapes and architecture. The lens is super sharp wide open and has very little noticeable distortion. The lens is also absolutely tiny (my smallest lens other than the Voigtlander Color Skopar 21mm f4) so is easy to carry around all day.

Here are a few more samples taken on day trip to London yesterday.

And some other examples, here showing the only potential negative point of the lens. The Voigtlander 15mm f4.5 Super Wide Heliar has strong purple fringing at the corners that is sometimes seen when used on a digital body as the lens mounts closer to a digital sensor than it did to film. I have been thinking of getting this lens for my M9 for a while. It looks nice and sharp and has little or no distortion. Pity about the colour casts.
Good review Matt. Lots of reviews of the fat, bloated, digitally-compromised Mk II and III out there, but not many on the original and best – haha. Top portrait you did of the girl, which proves what a fun lens this really can be. Maybe you can add some sun-star / flare photo examples to this review one day. It gives beautiful sun stars. Only wish i had a Leica with 15mm guidelines in the viewfinder… Neat shot of the pigeons too.
Thanks Peter! An old review so i’m glad it’s still getting some views. Yes a fun lens for sure! I later got the smaller LTM version too.
