Editorial Fashion – Kodak Portra Film + Leica M3
Model – Gina Underhill
Photographer – Matthew Osborne Photography (“Mr Leica”)
November 2014
Editorial fashion photography spread using a 1950s Leica M3 camera, 35mm colour film and minimal post processing. Below are photos from a recent shoot with Coventry model Gina who joined me in London as part of a portrait photography workshop.  I was demonstrating how easy it can be to get a nice photo with minimal equipment and just daylight. One camera, one lens. We had an amazing day with a great location, a beautiful model and even some brief winter sunshine!

Thanks 🙂 I think next time I will use my Leic Summicron 50mm f2 to get slightly sharper images but otherwise i’m pleased
These are lovely Matt, I know she’s a pretty girl but you’ve caught the light perfectly 🙂
Hi Christina, thanks for tracking me down on here too! I’m really enjoying shooting more film now so was pleased with the colours etc in these. Gina helped a lot of course! 🙂 Hope you are enjoying your cameras too 😉
Boy, that Portra looks great. Really love the shot with her by the car. The shots with the window light are amazing as well.
Thanks! It was cold and unsettled weather so we didn’t shoot outside as much as I woud have liked but I tried to make the most of it when we did. Gina was wrapped in coats and my gillet between each series!

Hi Matt,
I was trying to find your blog post on your favorite film types. Can’t find it. Can you please send me the link?
BTW do you use LR presets with your M9 to emulate film?
Thanks!
Hilmar
Hi, I lose track of all the posts myself. I keep trying new ones so the answer keeps evolving..currently CineStill 800, Portra(s), Rollei Retro 400, FP4+, TriX are some that come to mind.
No presets or actions with my M9. Quick fix in LR and that’s all. Shoot B&W as B&W JPEGs
Cheers
