November – Recap
Another month past in a blur. I was thankful to be invited to Tenerife for a second time but I didn’t fully appreciate the light and warm temperatures until I got back to a cold dark UK. I’m still working on my master plan to not be in the UK for next winter! Life is so much better when there is some light and sunshine (and it’s not raining). I shouldn’t complain as I know some of you have it worse than the UK! (But I am British so we need to cover the topic of weather haha).
One advantage of the cold dark wet conditions is I don’t feel like I am missing out on life when sitting inside for days making YouTube videos. With that, I was happy to publish 8 videos in November so roughly my 2 videos per week target. Sadly, as I’m trying to make better videos the editing time is now over double what it used to be. The last 3 posts all did much better than most of my previous videos so I may have finally found a video formula that people are more likely to watch. Onwards and upwards for future months! With that a quick plug, please subscribe to my YouTube so not to miss future videos! (If not already). Thanks!
I was teaching again in November, this time not in London but closer to home. A guy with his Leica M6 so looking a prints over a coffee which was very enjoyable. If you’d like to book a workshop and London is too far for you just get in touch and we can find a solution.
I’m also doing a lot more 1:1 Zoom calls with people booking me for consultations, often regarding camera equipment. I’ve now setup a new tab on the blog so it is easier to find the pricing structure and to get in touch.

Patreon Latest & Zoom Calls
Great speaking to some of you on Zoom last month. The current format is one £5+ level call where we’ve starting having guest speakers and one £3+ level live Q&A call. Both are great fun to participate in and we have a really knowledgeable group. (We often share extra posts on our private Patreon Facebook group too).
December – Coming Up
December is already looking very exciting! I have multiple products from 3 different brands to test for YouTube so all that to come. I made a new connection with new-to-me brand so i’m looking forward to sharing all that with you. Fingers crossed the Poland trip will go ahead despite everything Covid throws at me. It’s been a year since i’ve seen my Polish model friends so safe to say I will be packing a lot of film and nice kit to take with me!
Feel free to join us on the Patreon monthly group Zoom calls to get the last info and often a sneak peek as to watch kit i’m currently using/ testing!
YouTube video – spotlight (1 of the videos coming soon!)

> UK Workshops
Now lockdowns have eased in the UK it has been full steam ahead for teaching 1-to-1 photography workshops again. I teach basic to advanced level photography to anyone with a camera. That said, students are often either Leica photographers and trying to get more from their cameras, film photographers trying to master their latest film camera/ film or anyone wanting to try model photography. We sometimes do street photography too so I tailor it to your needs.
See workshop prices and testimonials on the blog
> Overseas Workshops
I’m very aware many of you are overseas and quite a few in both Germany and the US that I speak to. If I can get enough people from one country looking for 1:1 workshops I can look to fly to your country and do a mini road trip to see as many of you as I can. If you are interested in me flying to you please get in touch so I have an idea of numbers. (I’ve had a request to teach in Istanbul and the Netherlands so those might be happening!)
The other option is do as some others do and fly into London and I’ll meet you there. The advantage of meeting you in your city is (1) you don’t need to travel (2) I will give you model contacts in your city that you can keep in touch with after I leave. This has worked well for photographers in the past. The flipside of that is if you rather come to London you get the excuse for a holiday!

> Can You Help Me
Have you Subscribed to my YouTube yet and turned on your notifications!? I know you must get really sick of hearing every YouTuber mention it constantly but sadly it’s a necessary evil as it turns the cogs of the YouTube algorithm. It makes the difference between a video getting shown to more people or not. YouTube tells us publishers the data and after August it said “video view as normal but subscribers down 25% verses previous months”.
While I have my pathetic begging bowl out, if you can click the “LIKE” button on any videos you enjoyed watching that helps more than you could ever imagine! (Now I understand quite how important likes and subs are to the success of a YouTube channel I always leave likes on videos I enjoy watching from others).
Why does this matter to you? The idea is, if I can grow the channel I can attract bigger brands and more opportunities resulting in more new camera and lens reviews, comparison testing so you then know what gear you may want to buy.

One new perk for signing up is you now get a free copy of my YouTube video search tool. No more struggling to find a video or wondering if I have made a video on a particular lens or camera. The tool lets you search through my 200+ videos by lens manufacturer, lens mount, focal length, film format and more!
Loved the video about the Voigtlander APO 50. A more clinical look is fine with me as I do mostly street. And so far – always with film. Although, that too may change. Anyway, your email updates and your videos are a big hit here..
Thanks Avery! Very kind and thanks for the feedback. Yes the APO + film sounds like a great combination!
